Are you new to trails? Have you ever said...

"I don't go on trails because I'm too slow..."

"I don't go on trails because I don't want to go by myself..."

"I don't go on trails because I'm 'just' a hiker..."

"I don't go on trails because I don't want to get lost..."

Well, you don't have to say those things anymore. We have a beginner trail group just for you. We were all where you are now, and we remember saying all those things. So, we're here to help. We'll gather as a group every 1st & 3rd Wednesday evening and have a fabulous time in the beautiful foothills of Boise.

Please bring water - it's starting to get hot, and you'll need some hydration.

We can't wait to take you on the trails with us. All ages, speeds, levels, welcome. No experience necessary. Only thing that is required is a happy attitude :-)

What Motivates You to Move?

What:    "Intro to 'Tapping' - EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique"

Where:  The PULSE State Street store - 5622 W State Street, BOISE

When:   Tuesday, May 10, 2016, 6:15 pm

This month in our "What Motivates You to Move?" session, we'll talk about tapping. I know it sounds a little weird, but it's called "tapping" because we are literally tapping on endpoints of meridians on our body. We’re doing this tapping motion while saying certain statements that focus on what’s challenging us - problems, issues, mental roadblocks. Tapping has been shown to help with pain relief, anxiety, anger, resentment, fear, and similar issues - even weight loss.

How does it work and how is it that tapping can work for so many different areas of your life?

Tapping’s been around for 30 years. It was discovered by Roger Callahan in the late ‘70s. From a scientific perspective, what the latest research is showing is that when we tap on these endpoints of meridians on our body, (we tap on our body while focusing on the stress, the trauma, the anxiety, the pain, whatever’s bothering us), we actually send a calming signal to the amygdala in the brain. You may be familiar with the amygdala as the “fight or flight” response center in the brain. It’s really the stress center. It’s the place where when we get angry, when we get anxious, when we feel the stress in our body, that is what’s lighting up. One of the main things that tapping is doing is deactivating the amygdala. It’s sending a calming signal and releasing that stress.

In this month's group, we will discuss the basics of tapping and practice with some simple tapping techniques.
